In 2 Kings 16, King Ahaz allowed pressure, fear, admiration, and preference to move him away from the Lord. He copied a pagan altar from Damascus and brought that pattern back to Jerusalem. The sermon warns that compromise in the heart can eventually affect the whole home.

2 Kings 16:3 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.

Pastor Caudill preached that Ahaz altered the altar instead of letting God’s altar alter him. This means Ahaz tried to reshape worship around his own preference instead of surrendering to God’s appointed way. Pastor Caudill warned that when parents treat church as optional, children may learn to treat it as non-essential.
